This garage being the former London Transport 'SJ' garage. It was very appropriate that RMC1490 should go to SJ as she was actually allocated there as a London Country bus between April 1972 and March 1973. In March 1989 RMC1490 along with several similar buses was refurbished, painted in a red/gold livery by the new East London operation and re-entered service on new express service X15. In 1992 the X15 was converted to OPO operation and RMC1490 was then used on route 15 and briefly for private hire work. In November 1993 RMC1490 was transferred to Selkent Travel and used as a dedicated private hire bus.
